Police alerted as psychiatric patient escapes, shows up at mother’s home and flees
A police manhunt is underway for a Kuwaiti citizen who reportedly escaped from a psychiatric hospital, turned up unexpectedly at his family home in Dasma and fled after allegedly stealing his mother’s mobile phone.
The Ministry of Interior has circulated the man’s details to patrol units across Kuwait as officers work to locate and arrest him.
The incident reportedly began when the man, who had been receiving treatment at a psychiatric facility, escaped and made his way to his family’s home.
His mother told Dasma police that her son arrived unexpectedly, took her smartphone and then disappeared.
The family had earlier reported his drug addiction to the Anti-Narcotics Department, leading to his arrest and admission to the psychiatric hospital for treatment.
The circumstances surrounding his escape remain unclear.
