The Ministry of Health has launched a specialized training platform in cooperation with the United States-based Mayo Clinic, providing healthcare professionals in Kuwait with access to global medical expertise and the latest practices in healthcare, education and research.
The platform, which will begin operations on August 18, aims to support knowledge transfer, enhance professional development and help medical staff keep pace with advancements shaping the future of medicine.
Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi discussed areas of cooperation and ways to expand opportunities for healthcare professionals to benefit from Mayo Clinic’s educational programs and international expertise during a meeting with a delegation from the institution.
Ministry of Health Undersecretary Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah said the partnership represents a significant opportunity to benefit from Mayo Clinic’s wide-ranging experience, covering not only clinical care but also healthcare management and policy development.
Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services Dr. Hisham Kalender said the platform will facilitate the exchange of expertise between Kuwait’s Ministry of Health and Mayo Clinic, while introducing the latest healthcare practices to improve service quality and patient care.
He added that the initiative marks the beginning of a series of joint projects, starting with monthly lectures that will continue for more than a year and cover various medical and healthcare topics aimed at strengthening Kuwait’s health system.
Dr. Omar Ghanem, Medical Director of Mayo Clinic in the Middle East, said the collaboration will allow doctors in Kuwait to directly benefit from the expertise of leading specialists at the institution.
He highlighted Mayo Clinic’s extensive educational and research capabilities, including 22 major research laboratories, five colleges and around 450 educational programs, along with an annual investment of approximately $1.3 billion in research.
