13 companies compete to support Kuwait’s food security, agricultural future

A total of 13 companies are competing for two major infrastructure projects to strengthen Kuwait’s food security by expanding the use of treated water for agricultural purposes.
The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has opened financial bids for two tenders covering the development, construction, completion, operation and maintenance of treated water distribution systems in Kuwait’s southern and northern regions.
According to a decision published in the official gazette Kuwait Alyawm, six companies submitted bids for the Southern Region project, while seven companies are competing for the Northern Region project.
The Ministry of Public Works is implementing the projects as part of the government’s strategy to maximize the use of quaternary treated wastewater for irrigation and agricultural activities.
The initiative is expected to reduce reliance on freshwater resources, improve water sustainability, and support Kuwait’s efforts to enhance food security and increase domestic agricultural production.

Following the opening of the bids, CAPT has referred all submitted documents to the Ministry of Public Works for technical evaluation.
The ministry has been given 30 days from the date of publication in the official gazette to review the bids and submit its recommendations before the contracts are awarded.
