670,000 residents yet to submit biometric fingerprint

With the deadline for obtaining a biometric fingerprint fast approaching, the Ministry of Interior has announced that approximately 670,000 individuals, mostly residents, must complete the process by June 1st to avoid the suspension of various services.

The three-month grace period begins on Friday, March 1st, and applies to all citizens and residents over the age of 18. Failure to comply will result in the suspension of essential transactions with the Ministry of Interior, including the renewal of residencies, car registration, driving licenses, and others.

According to informed security sources, the General Department of Criminal Evidence has received over 1.78 million individuals since the launch of the biometric fingerprint project last year. Of these, approximately 900,000 are citizens and 880,000 are residents.

It is important to note that around 1.1 million individuals are exempt from the requirement as they are under the age of 18, out of a total population of approximately 4.85 million.

The sources emphasized the importance of obtaining the biometric fingerprint within the specified timeframe to avoid any inconvenience or disruption of essential services. They urged those who have not yet completed the process to schedule an appointment through the Ministry of Interior’s website at one of the designated locations in all governorates. For residents, two dedicated centers have been established in the Ahmadi and Jahra governorates.

Additionally, individuals can also obtain their biometric fingerprint upon returning from travel through the dedicated devices installed at air, land, and sea ports.
