From TSK to BSK… Home visits pave the way for a new chapter

The British School of Kuwait conducted home visits to support the transition from nursery to reception

In a warm and thoughtful initiative reflecting its commitment to supporting children through early-years transitional milestones, The British School of Kuwait (BSK) has held optional home visits for children in the KG year group at The Sunshine Kindergarten (TSK) who will be joining Reception at BSK in the upcoming academic year.

The visits, which took place from May 19 to 21, gave TSK children the opportunity to meet their future BSK Reception teachers in the comfort of their own homes. These relaxed and friendly encounters were designed to nurture a sense of familiarity and reassurance in children ahead of their new school journey.

The initiative represents part of the annual transition programme jointly organised by BSK and TSK to help children prepare for the move to Reception.

Under regular circumstances, this programme includes classroom visits to the school and meetings between Reception teachers and nursery children in their TSK classrooms. With the continuation of online learning currently, the programme was thoughtfully adapted — home visits replaced campus visits to ensure children could still connect with familiar faces in a secure and comfortable setting.

The visits also aimed to provide meaningful support to families navigating this milestone, strengthening the home-school connection at a stage when many children are preparing for their first experience of full-time education at a school and not a nursery.

Each visit included a welcome pack containing gifts and materials introducing children to life in Reception – among them photos of learning spaces, information about the teaching team, and the “My BSK Bear” Summer Scrapbook, an interactive summer activity designed to help children transition gradually and joyfully into this exciting new phase.

BSK and TSK remain dedicated to ensuring every child experiences a smooth and positive transition – one built on establishing relationships, confidence, and a genuine sense of belonging from day one.
