The US Department of War declared on Friday that it ordered the withdrawal of about 5,000 soldiers from Germany within the framework of reviewing the US forces’ deployment in Europe.
“The Secretary of War has ordered the withdrawal of approximately 5,000 troops from Germany,” Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell told FOX.
“This decision follows a thorough review of the Department’s force posture in Europe and is in recognition of theater requirements and conditions on the ground. We expect the withdrawal to be completed over the next six to twelve months,” he added.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced that his country is studying the reduction of its forces in Germany, amid disappointment with allies regarding the war in Iran.
