Kuwait’s unified defense system thwarts aggression with unprecedented coordination

. . . from frontlines to fire response shields Kuwait amid massive drone and missile attacks

In a powerful display of unity, resilience, and national loyalty, Kuwait’s military and security institutions have demonstrated exceptional coordination in confronting recent aggression, reinforcing the country’s defense capabilities and safeguarding its sovereignty.

Since the outbreak of hostilities on February 28, the Ministry of Defense has led a comprehensive national response, mobilizing military, logistical, and technical resources under well-prepared operational plans.

Air defense systems played a vital role in detecting and intercepting hostile threats, including hundreds of drones and missiles targeting strategic facilities across the country, Al-Rai daily reports.

Official data revealed that 852 drones, 354 ballistic missiles, and 15 cruise missiles were intercepted, with targets including oil installations, power plants, ports, and even Kuwait International Airport.

Authorities repeatedly urged the public to avoid approaching debris from intercepted objects and to report any suspicious remnants immediately.

Integrated Defense in Action

The success of Kuwait’s response lies in the seamless integration between the Kuwait Army, the Ministry of Interior Kuwait, the Kuwait National Guard, and the Kuwait Fire Force, forming a unified shield that combined vigilance, rapid response, and operational precision.

The National Guard played a crucial strategic role by securing 67 vital sites and supporting frontline operations. Among its most notable missions was a high-risk operation to safely dismantle a drone warhead lodged inside a fuel tank—an effort that lasted seven days and underscored the professionalism of its specialized units.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior intensified internal security measures, implementing a comprehensive preventive strategy that included banning drone usage, restricting unauthorized filming of security operations, and suspending public activities to reduce risks. Security forces also carried out preemptive operations, dismantling four sabotage cells and taking firm action against those spreading misinformation.

Firefighters on the Frontlines

The Kuwait Fire Force delivered an extraordinary response in managing the aftermath of attacks, handling hundreds of emergency reports, including more than 90 complex incidents.

One of the most critical operations involved extinguishing a major fire at fuel tanks in Kuwait International Airport, which required 58 continuous hours of intensive effort to contain and prevent further damage.

The force also activated its major incident operations room, coordinated closely with other agencies, and deployed specialized teams for hazardous materials and decontamination, ensuring rapid and effective crisis management.

Advanced Monitoring and Preparedness

On the technical front, the National Guard deployed advanced monitoring systems through the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Center for Chemical Defense and Radiological Monitoring, enhancing the country’s ability to detect and respond to environmental and radiological risks.

A Testament to National Unity

The coordinated efforts across all sectors have formed a robust defense system capable of confronting complex threats. The sacrifices of martyrs and the dedication of injured personnel stand as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Kuwait’s defenders.

This integrated national response not only protected vital infrastructure but also reinforced public confidence, demonstrating that Kuwait’s unity, preparedness, and decisive coordination remain its strongest shield in the face of adversity.
