Ministry of Social Affairs shifts Ramadan donations to online platforms

- Donations via K-Net devices in mosques has been discontinued
- Donations be made exclusively through official websites of charity societies.
- Three field inspection teams deployed across Kuwait to ensure compliance with regulations
The Ministry of Social Affairs has introduced new controls to regulate charity donations during the holy month of Ramadan, to safeguard charity work and ensure donations flow smoothly through secure and approved channels.
This year, the collection of donations via K-Net devices in mosques has been discontinued. Donations will instead be made exclusively through the official websites of charitable societies.
Undersecretary Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi emphasized that the ministry’s measures aim to correct past shortcomings and preserve the reputation of charitable work while maintaining donor trust, reports Al-Rai daily.
He clarified that “previous experiences revealed some challenges in donation collection, but charitable societies are not responsible for individual violations, and mistakes should not be generalized.”
During a meeting held under the “Committed” initiative in coordination with the Union of Charity Societies and Foundations, Dr. Al-Ajmi explained that Sharia and jurisprudential guidance were taken into account when establishing the new controls.
The ministry has clarified the mechanisms for donation management in mosques, discontinued point-of-sale collections, and provided “safe passage” for charitable work according to clear regulatory standards.
He highlighted that three field inspection teams have been deployed across Kuwait’s six governorates. These teams will monitor charitable societies and mosques to ensure compliance with regulations. Any advertisements or campaigns violating donation rules will be addressed immediately, and violations will be documented.
The ministry noted that these steps aim to enhance governance, consolidate donor trust, and position Kuwait as a leader in humanitarian giving, with further improvements expected in the coming years.
