Al-Zour North Power plant project set to sign $1 billion deal Tuesday
Kuwait’s mega energy project nears launch of 2,700 mw power & 120m gallons of water; big boost for energy and water security

Asma Al-Mousa, Acting Director General of the Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority, said the power purchase agreement for the Al-Zour North Power Plant project – Phases Two and Three will be signed tomorrow, Tuesday, between the relevant parties responsible for completing and operating the project.
Al-Mousa said, “The project is one of the largest energy initiatives in the country, with the commitment document having been signed in August 2025.
“The station’s production capacity will reach approximately 2,700 megawatts of electricity, alongside 120 million imperial gallons per day of desalinated water, with a total investment exceeding one billion Kuwaiti dinars,” she added.
She added that the project is expected to contribute significantly to reducing production costs, improving energy efficiency, and achieving water and electricity security in Kuwait. Implementation of the project is anticipated to take three years to complete, reports Al-Rai daily.
