Airport bust: 3,458 narcotic pills seized from passenger arriving from Addis Ababa

The General Administration of Customs has thwarted a drug smuggling attempt at Kuwait International Airport.
The authorities have taken into custody a female passenger who arrived from Addis Ababa carrying in her baggage 3,458 narcotic tablets concealed in plastic containers.
Customs officers became suspicious of the passenger during routine inspection procedures and subjected her to a thorough search, which led to the discovery of large quantities of Tapentadol, a narcotic substance listed under the schedule of psychotropic drugs, reports Al-Rai daily.
The pills had been carefully hidden inside containers of body powder in an apparent attempt to evade detection and smuggle the drugs into the country without a medical prescription.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect is a Beninese national working as a domestic worker. The concealment method pointed to deliberate intent to traffic the prohibited substance, in clear violation of Kuwait’s anti-narcotics laws.
The case and the seized items were subsequently referred to the General Department of Drug and Alcohol Control to complete the necessary investigations and legal action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
