Court jails lawyer for three years over false news and incitement

The Criminal Court has sentenced a lawyer to three years in prison after convicting him of broadcasting and publishing false news related to grievances filed by women whose citizenship had been revoked under Article 8, as well as inciting violations of the law.

According to court records, the Public Prosecution had previously investigated the accused and ordered his detention after he appeared in a video clip that was deemed to encourage the public to violate the law, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The court found him guilty of the charges brought against him and issued the custodial sentence accordingly.
