Kuwait Deputy PM visits deportation, temporary detention facilities

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah paid a visit to the Deportation and Temporary Detention Department on Wednesday to inspect the workflow, identify challenges, and develop solutions.

He reviewed the capacity of the deportation prison and toured the men’s and women’s wards, listening to the inmates’ concerns and feedback.

Sheikh Fahd directed the department to address the inmates’ challenges within the legal framework and streamline procedures for deportees, especially those without passports, in coordination with their embassies to expedite their return to their home countries.

He also called for addressing all shortcomings and developing a future vision to improve the department’s operations and remove obstacles.

The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the Juvenile Administration building (Social Rehabilitation Center) and inspected the new building for the Deportation and Temporary Detention Department, which is equipped with modern facilities and improved detention areas.

The new facility will accommodate a larger number of inmates and provide a healthy and comfortable environment.
