Al-Murabba’aniyah season marks the beginning of winter in Kuwait

The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center has announced that the Al-Murabba’aniyah season, considered the official start of winter in Kuwait, will begin on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
While temperatures may not immediately drop during the first few days, the center explained that the season signals a gradual transition from warmth to colder weather, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Murabba’aniyah follows the Al-Wasam season and lasts for 39 days, divided into three segments of 13 days each — Al-Iklil, Al-Qalb, and Al-Shula.
The season typically starts with the coldest period, though its intensity can vary annually due to global climatic factors.
During this time, nights grow longer, culminating in the longest night of the year on December 21, lasting 13 hours and 44 minutes, which intensifies the perception of cold as the season progresses.
