Kuwait, Iraq hold 12th meeting on maritime border demarcation

The twelfth meeting of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi Joint Technical and Legal Committee on the demarcation of maritime borders beyond Marker 162 was held in Kuwait on Thursday.

The Kuwaiti side was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, while the Iraqi delegation was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Affairs, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing periodic meetings of the Joint Technical and Legal Committee, with the goal of finalizing the demarcation of maritime borders between the two countries beyond Marker No. 162.

The discussions are being conducted in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
