Defendants in terrorist cell case retract their confessions

The Detention Renewal Judge has extended the detention of a Kuwaiti citizen and three Tunisians for an additional two weeks. The men are charged with belonging to a prohibited group and plotting to bomb three mosques and Husseiniyat, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to a reliable source, the four defendants have retracted their earlier confessions and once again denied the allegations leveled against them. State Security investigations have presented the prosecution with substantial evidence, and meticulous efforts are underway to determine the accused individuals’ plans.

The same source revealed that the Public Prosecution’s inquiry into the terrorist cell has uncovered involvement with juveniles and high school students. It was discovered that some cell members had been in communication with them via phone.

Upon scrutinizing the phones of citizens accused of affiliating with the terrorist cell, authorities found evidence of communication with several students and juveniles. The aim was to entice them into joining the ISIS terrorist organization, although the targeted individuals reportedly refused, as stated in their testimonies. Investigations into the case continue, running in parallel with the collection of information.
