Massive dinars counterfeiting setup busted; inks, printers, fake notes seized from chalet

Personnel from the of Criminal Investigation Department – Anti-Counterfeiting and Forgery Unit – have taken into custody an unidentified suspect for promoting counterfeit 20-dinar banknotes.
The arrest came after two reports were filed with the Khaitan police station by unidentified persons.
The plainclothesmen identified the suspect and after getting arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution arrested the man and during interrogation the suspect admitted to the charges and to promoting counterfeit bills across various governorates, reports Al-Jarida daily.
He also admitted that he produced the counterfeit notes at his family’s chalet in the Sabah Al-Ahmad Marine area using equipment.
A subsequent search of the chalet uncovered over 20 printing devices with scanners, dozens of inks and dyes, paper clippers, thousands of ready counterfeit banknotes, hundreds of special sheets, adhesives, counterfeiting tools, chemicals, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect has been referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal proceedings.
