Kuwait strips citizenship of 15 persons for legal violations

A special supplement of the official gazette “Kuwait Alyawm” issued today announced two decisions revoking the Kuwaiti citizenship of 15 individuals.

The first decision involved the withdrawal of citizenship from one woman, based on Article 10 of the Nationality Law. The second decision affected 14 individuals — 10 women and 4 men — under Article 11 of the same law.

The decisions were taken during a meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior explained that the committee also addressed several cases such as citizenship withdrawal due to loss of nationality certificates or possession of dual citizenship; withdrawal of citizenship based on fraud, false statements, or forged documents and revocation of citizenship for reasons linked to the higher interests of the state.

The committee’s recommendations will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for final approval, as part of ongoing efforts to preserve the integrity of national identity and enforce the rule of law.
