Anti-Human Trafficking Committee discusses challenges facing 2025–2028 national strategy

The Kuwaiti Permanent National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants held its 22nd meeting to discuss key challenges and obstacles facing the implementation of the National Strategy for 2025–2028.
In a press release, the Ministry of Justice stated that the meeting — chaired by Acting Undersecretary and Committee Vice-Chair Awatif Al-Sand — brought together representatives of all relevant government entities.
Discussions focused on operational procedures for the new strategy and preparations to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, observed annually on July 30, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The meeting builds on Cabinet Resolution No. 261 issued on February 5, 2018, which approved Kuwait’s National Strategy to Prevent Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants. The resolution tasked the Ministry of Justice, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other stakeholders, with implementing the strategy.
Following this directive, the Minister of Justice issued decisions to form the Permanent National Committee, comprising members from the ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Health and Information. This is in addition to the Public Authority for Manpower and the Public Prosecution.
The Committee is responsible for executing Kuwait’s strategic vision to combat trafficking and migrant smuggling. It seeks to foster a society that is free from such crimes and fully aware of their dangers. This goal is pursued through the effective enforcement of Law No. 91 of 2013, aligned with relevant international agreements.
Key priorities include enhancing inter-agency cooperation, protecting and assisting victims, and promoting national, regional, and international collaboration to prevent trafficking and migrant smuggling.
