Kuwait, Uzbekistan sign labor exchange agreement, boost private sector employment

In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral labor cooperation, Kuwait has approved Decree No. 115 of 2025, ratifying a labor exchange agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Signed in Kuwait City on February 17, 2025, the agreement focuses on facilitating private sector employment between the two countries and outlines joint commitments to job creation, skills development, technical cooperation, and dispute resolution within the framework of national laws and mutual interests, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to Article 3 of the agreement, both countries are committed to facilitating services that support and develop this cooperation in accordance with the existing laws, rules, and regulations of each country. Article 4 further emphasizes mutual support in the transfer and employment of labor between the two nations.

Article 5 outlines that the two parties will engage in consultations and reciprocal visits to exchange expertise and share experiences in job creation and workforce development.

In the case of disputes between employers and workers, Article 7 mandates that such disagreements be resolved under the host country’s applicable laws. If an amicable settlement cannot be reached, the matter will be referred to the judiciary.

Article 9 provides for the establishment of a bilateral working group to assess job opportunities, recommend technical cooperation initiatives, support skills development, and ensure the supply of qualified technicians across various sectors to serve the interests of both countries.

Clause 3 of Article 11 specifies that the agreement will remain in force for five years and will automatically renew for additional five-year terms unless one party notifies the other in writing of its intention to terminate the agreement at least six months before the expiration of the current term.
