Social Affairs Ministry provides ‘at-home’ care for 4,000 elderly citizens

Abdulrahman Al-Enezi, Director of the Elderly Care Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs, announced that the ministry is currently providing comprehensive ‘at-home’ care services to approximately 4,000 elderly people across Kuwait.

These services, he said, are provided through specialized mobile service centers as part of a broader government initiative to improve the quality of life for the elderly and supporting the families that care for them, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, Al-Enezi emphasized that mobile care teams conduct routine home visits to assess the health and well-being of elderly citizens and ensure that their families are providing suitable living conditions.

He added that these teams play a crucial role in helping caregivers recognize early signs of health deterioration, educating them on age-related illnesses, and offering guidance on the appropriate ways to interact with elderly people.

He also explained that elderly citizens can apply for priority service cards via the government’s digital platform “Sahel,” with the cards then being delivered electronically through the “My Identity” App.

Meanwhile, specialized parking plates for the elderly are either delivered directly to the individuals or handed to their caregivers through the same mobile centers.

Al-Enezi noted that demand for these services continues to grow, with approximately 3,000 elderly parking plates distributed so far and around 7,000 priority cards issued.

These numbers, he said, underscore both the success of the system the ministry has implemented and the community’s increasing reliance on these services to support elderly citizens throughout Kuwait.
