Kuwait, Japan reaffirm historic ties; sign new agreements to cement strategic partnership
His Highness the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo

As part of his official visit to Japan, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah held a high-level meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, during which the two sides witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The Kuwait News Agency said, the discussions reflected a shared commitment to advancing cooperation across a range of sectors, with both leaders highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between their nations.
His Highness the Crown Prince emphasized the enduring bonds between Kuwait and Japan, noting that the two countries have stood together in facing many challenges over the years. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s appreciation for Japan’s principled and supportive stance during the Iraqi invasion in 1990, a position Kuwait will never forget.
During the talks, both sides recalled the long-standing ties that date back to 1958, particularly through the Arabian Oil Company and its pioneering joint oil exploration efforts — an early symbol of their economic partnership.
The Japanese Prime Minister praised the depth of the historical relationship and the enduring friendship between the peoples of Japan and Kuwait.
The meeting underscored a notable alignment of views on key regional and international developments, reflecting a shared vision and mutual respect.
The atmosphere was cordial and constructive, reinforcing the spirit of cooperation and a mutual desire to expand strategic collaboration across economic, energy, scientific, and technological domains.

At the outset of the meeting, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and expressed heartfelt wishes for continued prosperity and progress for Japan and its friendly people.
The meeting also reviewed the close and historic ties that have united the two nations over the past six decades, highlighting the growth and prosperity achieved through mutual respect, trust, and joint efforts—realizing the shared aspirations of both countries and their peoples.
