MOI allows ‘women’ stripped of nationality to travel with former Kuwaiti passports from June to September 2025

The Ministry of Interior has announced that women whose Kuwaiti citizenship was revoked under Article 8 will be permitted to travel using their former Kuwaiti passports between June 1, 2025, and September 30, 2025. This temporary measure is intended to support the regularization of their legal status.
The Ministry emphasized that all individuals concerned must strictly follow the instructions and procedures outlined below, and that no exceptions will be made for anyone whose citizenship has been withdrawn.
Required Procedures:
Legal Status Adjustment — Individuals must coordinate with the embassy of their original nationality to obtain a valid passport — either from their former nationality or any official passport that allows legal residency in Kuwait.
Status Adjustment Period — A one-year period beginning June 1, 2025, has been set to allow individuals to adjust their legal status; to retain benefits during this time, action must be taken within the first three months of the period; failure to show serious intent to adjust status within those three months will result in cancellation of any benefits; proof of initiating the process (such as a passport request) must be submitted.
Grievance Option — Adjusting one’s legal status does not prevent the individual from filing a grievance with the Grievance Committee for Withdrawal, Forfeiture, and Loss of Kuwaiti Citizenship, established under Cabinet Resolutions No. 207 and 493 of 2025.
Civil ID and Documentation
Once the status adjustment is completed, a new civil ID card will be issued. This card will include the phrase: ‘Kuwaiti individual treatment in accordance with established regulations’; indicate the individual’s current nationality
The Ministry stated that these steps aim to simplify the legal transition process while ensuring continued access to applicable benefits.
