A delegation from the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington participated in U.S. Memorial Day events, a national holiday honoring American soldiers who died in wars and military interventions.
During a ceremony held at Arlington National Cemetery, former President Donald Trump praised the U.S. armed forces, saying their sacrifices were made not just for the past, but for “today and tomorrow.” He saluted their courage and dedication during times of crisis and danger.
Memorial Day is observed annually on the last Monday of May, with the most prominent commemoration taking place at Arlington Cemetery, where thousands of American soldiers are buried.
Originally called “Decoration Day,” the event dates back to May 30, 1868, when graves were adorned with wreaths and flowers.
The day is marked by parades on Constitution Avenue, near the White House, attended by top military and political leaders, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and diplomatic delegations such as Kuwait’s.
