22 individuals lose Kuwaiti citizenship as government continues to enforce national laws

The government gazette Kuwait Alyawm has published Decree No. 89 of 2025 and Decree No. 90 of 2025, detailing the revocation of Kuwaiti citizenship of 22 individuals, including those who may have obtained it through familial or dependent status.
According to Decree No. 89 of 2025, citizenship was withdrawn from 20 individuals, and others who may have acquired it through their association with others, such as spouses or children, reports Al-Rai daily.
Meanwhile, Decree No. 90 of 2025 ordered the revocation of citizenship from two persons, including any dependents who may have gained Kuwaiti nationality as a result of their relationship.
The decrees were issued in accordance with applicable laws and regulations governing Kuwaiti citizenship, and their publication in the official gazette makes them legally effective. However, the official reasons behind the revocations were not disclosed in the published documents.
The decisions reflect the government’s continued enforcement of national laws regulating the acquisition and retention of Kuwaiti citizenship, particularly in cases where legal violations or misrepresentation may be involved.
