Education Ministry cracks down on violations in ongoing anti-corruption drive

In a continued push for transparency and good governance, Minister of Education Eng. Jalal Al-Tabtabaei has referred nine new cases of serious financial and administrative violations to the Public Prosecution Office, raising the total number of referred cases to 16.
The cases, uncovered across multiple sectors of the Ministry, were based on detailed reports from the Inspection and Audit Office — an entity directly linked to the Minister’s Office and recently empowered to enhance internal oversight and protect public funds.
Al-Tabtabaei stated the violations include abuse of power for personal gain, facilitating illegal appropriation of public funds, exceeding legal authority, submitting false information to mislead regulators, and intentionally harming public finances — acts deemed intolerable under any circumstance.
He affirmed that all necessary documents have been submitted to the relevant authorities for legal action stressing there will be no leniency in enforcing the law.
The Ministry will also conduct a full review of its oversight mechanisms and implement corrective measures to prevent future violations.
Al-Tabtabaei reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and called on all staff to uphold integrity and discipline, stating that building a clean educational system starts with eradicating corruption from the administrative environment.
