Kuwait rolls out first integrated unified digital e-services on Sahel app

Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, has announced the launch of Kuwait’s first integrated unified digital e-services on the Sahel app under the title ‘Newborn Journey’. This initiative aligns with higher directives to advance digital transformation, simplify government procedures, and implement the digital government strategy.
Al-Omar told KUNA this reflects the government’s vision to ease the lives of citizens through smart, interconnected services that eliminate the need to visit government offices, improving service efficiency and align with expectations of citizens.
Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi highlighted that electronic birth registration is now available in all government and private hospitals, describing it as a major shift from paper-based systems to a fully digital process through the “Sahel” app—enhancing service quality and the family’s overall experience with health-related procedures.
“Sahel” spokesperson Yousef Kazem outlined the seven connected services in the journey: naming the newborn, issuing the civil number, obtaining the birth certificate, adding the child to the citizenship file, applying for the civil ID, optionally adding the newborn to the supply department, and requesting the newborn allowance. Each step is automatically linked to the next, eliminating data duplication or the need to contact other entities.
Kazem added that the system was developed with top standards of digital integration and data protection. Future updates will include passport issuance and automatic vaccination appointment notifications, further enhancing the user experience and advancing Kuwait’s vision of a smart digital government.
