Tajik-Kuwaiti relations advancing toward a promising future: Zubaydov

The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait, HE Zubaydullo Zubaydov, praised the steady development of political relations between the two countries since establishing diplomatic ties in 1994, grounded in mutual understanding and respect.

In a statement to KUNA marking the 30th anniversary of bilateral ties, Zubaydov highlighted Kuwait’s early recognition of Tajikistan’s independence as a reflection of its commitment to Central Asia’s stability, noting the positive impression this left on the Tajik people.

He underscored the importance of opening embassies — Tajikistan in 2012, Kuwait in 2013 — which enhanced diplomatic cooperation and ongoing coordination in international forums.

The Tajik envoy said the political dialogue contributes to regional and international stability, opening doors to deeper cooperation.

On the economic front, he acknowledged that trade and investment relations are below expectations but emphasized the shared determination to improve.

Tajikistan offers investment opportunities in agriculture, hydropower, mining, and tourism, and encourages Kuwaiti investors to explore these sectors through incentives facilitated by the government. He urged activation of the Joint Economic Committee and regular meetings between business sectors.

Zubaydov stressed Tajikistan’s interest in Kuwaiti companies’ participation in infrastructure, energy, and transportation projects, recognizing Kuwait as a key economic partner in the Gulf.

On the cultural and educational exchange, he pointed to growing academic cooperation, with Tajik students studying Islamic law and Arabic in Kuwait. He called for organizing joint cultural events and signing MoUs to promote scientific research, academic collaboration, and cultural programs.

The ambassador affirmed the strength of diplomatic relations across political, economic, and cultural fields over the past three decades. He emphasized continued communication with Kuwaiti institutions and expressed eagerness for high-level political meetings.

Zubaydov highlighted Tajikistan’s interest in expanding security cooperation, especially in combating terrorism and cross-border threats, and in sharing expertise with Kuwait.

He also praised Kuwait’s humanitarian aid through KFAED and charitable organizations, supporting vital sectors in Tajikistan.

In conclusion, he expressed optimism for the future of Tajik-Kuwaiti relations, founded on strong political will, mutual respect, and shared goals—committed to taking ties to greater heights.
