
The Embassy of Italy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the International Women’s Group (IWG), hosted a vibrant cultural event titled ‘Murano Glass and the Venice Carnival’ at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The occasion celebrated Italy’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, with a special focus on the Veneto Region, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of Murano glass and the timeless charm of the Venice Carnival.
The program commenced with opening remarks by Mrs. Layla Boulos, Public Relations Coordinator, followed by a welcoming address from IWG President Mme Polina Dlamini, spouse of the Ambassador of Eswatini.
Guests were then warmly greeted by HE Lorenzo Morini, Ambassador of Italy to Kuwait, and Mrs. Maria Lorena Morini, who expressed their pride in bringing a piece of Italy’s cultural legacy to Kuwait.
Among the distinguished attendees were Sheikha Hanouf Al-Bader Al-Sabah, honorary president of the IWG, as well as the Ambassadors of the United States and Lesotho, alongside other esteemed dignitaries — emphasizing the deep-rooted diplomatic and cultural connections shared among nations.
A captivating video presentation, ‘Venice and the Art of Murano Glass,’ offered a visual journey through the centuries-old tradition of Venetian glassmaking. This was followed by an engaging talk from Mrs. Alessia Fuga, a celebrated Murano glass artist, who shared her insights into the delicate art of crafting hand-made glass jewelry.
The cultural experience was further elevated by a live performance from Quintetto Denner, a distinguished Italian jazz ensemble known for their reinterpretations of classical Italian compositions. Another video, ‘The Venice Carnival,’ immersed attendees in the splendor and pageantry of one of Italy’s most iconic festivals.
Guests also enjoyed an exciting raffle draw, with prizes generously donated by event sponsors. The event concluded with a sumptuous buffet lunch inspired by the traditional cuisine of Veneto, offering a flavorful journey through Italy’s culinary heritage.
