Kuwaiti citizenship of 2,899 people revoked including 408 first class citizens
The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, held a meeting today, Thursday, December 19, chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, H. E. Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef. The committee decided to withdraw and lose citizenship from 2,899 cases, in preparation for presenting them to the Council of Ministers.
The Ministry of Interior mentioned in a press statement that the committee decided to revoke Kuwaiti citizenship in two cases involving dual citizenship, in accordance with Articles (9) and (10) of Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959.
The statement added that the committee decided to withdraw the Kuwaiti citizenship certificate in accordance with Article (21 bis A) of the Kuwaiti Citizenship Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments due to fraud and false statements (forgery), as well as from those who acquired it through dependency. A total of 408 cases were affected under this article.
The committee also decided to withdraw Kuwaiti citizenship in accordance with Article (13), Paragraph (4) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments, affecting 2,489 cases from 54 different countries.
