Electricity Ministry activates ‘Smart Fingerprint System’ in 3 stations and external sites
The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy has activated smart fingerprint technology on phones at Doha West, Doha East, and Shuwaikh stations, as well as at the warehouse management in Subhan, emergency services, and other sensitive sites.
This initiative aims to serve approximately 5,000 employees, facilitating operations at these sites and stations.
The Ministry sources confirmed to Al-Jarida that the smart fingerprint application is highly secure and regularly updated by specialists from the ministry’s fingerprint team, including male and female engineers.
They indicated that the application is part of the ongoing fingerprint project, launched in 2021, aimed at fully updating the fingerprint system within the ministry.
The Ministry pointed out that the smart fingerprint application at the West Doha, East Doha, and Shuwaikh stations, as well as other sites, is connected to sensor accessories that enable the application to function within those locations. However, the application does not operate outside these designated areas.
Furthermore, the Ministry noted that the application was activated in accordance with its technical conditions and requirements. It also appreciated the strong cooperation between the fingerprint team and the power generation stations that implemented the smart fingerprint application on phones.
The Ministry explained that the ministerial wing in the Ministry of Electricity and Water building was equipped with sensors to serve its employees. It noted that the application underwent a period of preparation, analysis, design, and the addition of necessary features during its first phase to facilitate its use by employees.
Significantly, the Ministry emphasized that fingerprint devices will remain in use at various locations where smart fingerprints have been activated, as these devices work efficiently. However, the application serves as an additional tool to facilitate employee work and reduce congestion at fingerprint devices.
The Ministry pointed out that the Electricity Authority is committed to staying up to date with modern technology, systems, and techniques to enhance and streamline its work.
Also, the Ministry thanked those responsible for the application and acknowledged their significant efforts in serving the stations and various sectors for several consecutive days, ensuring the application was successfully activated at these sites. This allows work to continue seamlessly with the approval of the third fingerprint.
