Minister “Al-Mashari” requests chalet removal to proceed with Jahra Corniche project

The Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Abdullatif Al-Mashari, confirmed that the presence of chalets on the waterfront in Jahra (Corniche) is a significant obstacle in implementing the project.

During his approval of the minutes of the Sixth Municipal Council, Al-Mashari objected to the cancellation of the third item in the Authority’s study on the Jahra Waterfront and Private Project.

This item, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, was focused on removing the chalets located within the boundaries of the waterfront project site, which was based on the requirements set by the Public Authority for Environment.

Al-Mashari stated that the presence of chalets is a major obstacle to the implementation of the project planned for the Jahra waterfront (Corniche), which is located between the western Doha Station to the east, and the Jahra Nature Reserve to the west.

Furthermore, Al-Mashari noted that the contracts for the chalets are temporary agreements made with the Ministry of Finance, the entity responsible for managing state property.

These contracts regulate the obligations of both parties and grant the right to remove the chalets at any time, in accordance with the request of the Ministry of Finance and the General Authority for Environment. This is based on the study submitted by the executive branch. Al-Mashari emphasized the importance of including this item and reinserting it into the decision.

Al-Mashari objected to the Municipal Council’s decision to approve the complaint submitted by some residents of the Adiliyah area regarding the establishment of secondary electrical stations in Plot No. 3, Issa Al-Asousi Street, in front of vouchers 32 and 34.

On the other hand, Al-Mashari emphasized the urgent need for the Ministry of Electricity and Water to establish the secondary conversion station at this site to alleviate the load on feeder stations and prevent potential future interruptions due to increasing loads.

Al-Mashari based his objection on the letter from the Ministry of Electricity and Water, asserting that the decision to not approve the transfer or relocation of the allocated transformers violated the Municipal Council’s prior decision.

The site for the secondary transfer station was allocated to Avenue No. (32), at the request of the Ministry, and the location of the station was designed to separate it from nearby areas, including Khadmi Street and Takhdimi Street, while the secondary transfer station designated for Avenue No. (34) Is located in such a way that it is separated from all the nearby areas along Takhdimi Street.
