Saudi Arabia: World’s leading exporter and producer of Dates

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continued to lead the world in Date exports and production in 2023, according to a report issued by the National Center for Palms and Dates.

The value of exports amounted to more than 1.463 billion Saudi riyals, based on data from the World Trade Center (Comtrade), while the production volume exceeded 1.9 million tons, based on data from the General Authority for Statistics.

Saudi dates have achieved wide-spread presence in international markets, reaching 119 countries around the world by the end of 2023. The value of date exports has doubled by, 152.5% since 2016, achieving an annual cumulative growth of 12.3%.

Additionally, Saudi exports have recorded remarkable growth in several markets, reflecting this great achievement and the continuous support of the wise leadership ‘may God support them for the palm and dates sector, as a cultural value that reflects the heritage and civilizational identity of the Kingdom’.

It highlights the remarkable efforts between producers and exporters of Saudi dates and government sectors in facilitating procedures for exporting and marketing dates globally. This is achieved by working and partnering with the private sector, which follows the strategy of the National Center for Palms and Dates, to increase the ability of Saudi dates for competing globally.

The plans and efforts of the National Center for Palms and Dates have contributed in consolidating the position of Saudi dates, as a distinguished and high-quality product. This is in accordance with the national priorities of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, to make the Palm and Dates sector, as one of the main tributaries in enhancing non-oil revenues, within the sectors targeted to diversify the national economy.
