The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in the global tourism sector, the World Tourism Organization said.
In 2023, it ranked 12th in international tourist spending, a remarkable advancement of 15 places compared to 2019. The WTO published new data, on Friday, showing that the Kingdom topped the list of G20 countries in the number of international visitors by 73 percent and in the growth of global tourism revenues by 207 percent from January to July 2024 compared to the same period in 2019.
These achievements underscore the Kingdom’s allure as a premier global tourist destination. The substantial increase in incoming tourists is a testament to the Kingdom’s diverse and appealing tourism options.
The Kingdom’s tourism sector has shown remarkable resilience, with international tourists bouncing back to 96 percent of pre-COVID-19 levels from January to July 2024. With about 790 million international tourists, this recovery represents an 11 percent growth compared to the same period in 2023.
