Ministry opens special assistance unit for released, repentant cases
The special unit for receiving assistance requests from the released and repentant categories aims to streamline the process of supporting individuals in these cases, which require ongoing follow-up.
• “Through the public assistance law, the ministry places great importance on humanitarian cases, especially those of the released and repentant individuals. We are always committed to meeting their needs, providing support, and continuously following up to ensure their reintegration into society,” said Khaled Al-Ajami.
In the presence of Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, and Dr. Khaled Al-Ajami, Acting Undersecretary of the ministry, the special unit for receiving assistance requests from the released and repentant categories was officially opened at the Family Welfare Department in the Ministries Complex, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
Al-Huwailah stated that “the aim of this step is to streamline the procedures for assisting individuals from these special cases, which require periodic follow-up.” She added that, during the first phase, only new cases will be accepted, while ongoing files and old cases will be transferred in the second phase to ensure the smooth operation of the process.
She explained that this hall aims to expedite the processing of requests submitted by the auditors, presenting them to the Public Aid Committee and its subcommittees more quickly and efficiently.
Transferring all files from external units to the ministries complex
In a press statement after the opening, Al-Ajami said, “Through the public assistance law, the ministry places great importance on humanitarian cases, especially those of the released and repentant individuals. We are always committed to meeting their needs, providing support, and continuously following up to ensure their reintegration into society.”
Al-Ajami further explained that there are approximately 827 cases of released and repentant individuals registered with the ministry, which are subject to ongoing follow-up in cooperation with the relevant authorities and under the supervision of a specialized department.
He added, “The opening of the unit within the main department is part of the ministry’s plan to give this group the attention they deserve, track their reports and files individually, and ensure stability for them and their families.”
For her part, Nadia Al-Azmi, Director of the Family Care Department in the ministry, stated that “the opening of an independent unit for the released and repentant categories, along with the transfer of all their files from external units to the central administration, helps relieve the pressure on these units, which are distributed across the country’s various regions.”
She pointed out that the establishment of the unit places these cases under direct control, helping to reduce any issues faced by the staff of the units.
