Government initiative to transform Kuwait into a top travel destination

• A comprehensive study will be conducted to position Kuwait as an attractive tourist destination, highlighting that the necessary elements for recreational, social, and cultural activities already exist but require activation and enhancement.

The government is considering expanding entertainment and heritage projects with historical significance, particularly in developing the islands. These initiatives are expected to provide economic, social, and security benefits if executed as planned. The proposed developmental approach encompasses commercial, residential, investment, tourism, and service projects, according to Al Anba newspaper sources.

The sources stated that the government’s seriousness is accompanied by the commitment of the concerned ministers, especially since neighboring countries pursued this approach a couple of years ago and reaped the benefits through financial and economic returns, as well as attracting tourists. They noted that a comprehensive study will be prepared to make Kuwait an attractive tourist destination, emphasizing that the essential elements for recreational, social, and cultural activities are already present but need to be activated and enhanced.

The sources explained that Kuwait has been a leading tourism destination since the early 1970s, having adopted tourist recreational programs early on, along with a flourishing cultural scene at that time. The country engaged with regional events by hosting Arab writers and holding seminars and cultural evenings.

The sources stated that several projects are within the government’s focus, most notably the development of Al-Mubarakiya, Failaka Tourist Park, Boubyan Island, and the Ahmadi market.

Additionally, the establishment of Mubarak Al-Kabeerport is considered the most vital and important project due to its role in creating new job opportunities for young people from both categories and attracting foreign investors.
