Kuwait announces new Hajj registration system for 1446 AH

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said that those wishing to register for Hajj can do so automatically using the ‘My Identity’ program from November 3 to November 17.

  • After sorting for Hajj registration, an advance payment of KD 750 is required within five days. Cancellations before December 31, 2024, will receive a full refund.

  • Among the 10,000 applicants in Kuwait, 3,000 (30%) are in the first group. Sorting of Hajj pilgrims will be based on age groups from the Kuwait quota—60 and above, 35 to 59, and 34 and below.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has issued a circular outlining the Hajj registration system for the upcoming 1446 AH Hajj season, according to Al Anba newspaper.

The circular details the registration and nomination process for pilgrims in the 1446 AH/2025 season, addressing licensed Hajj campaign organizers. This initiative aims to improve the registration process and serve pilgrims more effectively, following the decision of the Supreme Hajj and Umrah Committee’s meeting No. (1446/1 AH).

The ministry stated that under the open central registration system, the public wishing to register for Hajj can do so automatically by authenticating with the “My Identity” program. Registration will be open from Sunday, November 3, until the 17th of the same month.

Applicants must be Kuwaiti and meet the following criteria:

  1. The applicant must not have previously performed Hajj.
  2. The group size must not exceed three people.
  3. The group must consist of relatives.
  4. One resident companion may be included in the application (such as the spouse of a Kuwaiti resident, their children, or their mother).
  5. A non-citizen companion may also be added (such as the spouse or children of a Kuwaiti citizen or the mother of a Kuwaiti citizen).

If the applicant is a non-citizen, the following criteria apply

  1. The applicant must not have performed Hajj before.
  2. The group size must not exceed three people.
  3. The group must consist of relatives.
  4. One resident companion may be added to the application (such as a husband, wife, or mother).
  5. One Kuwaiti companion may also be added to the application (such as a husband, wife, or mother).
  6. A valid security card is required.

The Awqaf stated that the general registration policy includes the following provisions:

  1. Applicants have the right to make changes and replacements during the registration period.
  2. After sorting to confirm registration, a payment of KD 750 must be made as an advance for each pilgrim.
  3. If the application of the eldest person in the group is canceled, the entire application will be canceled.
  4. An accepted pilgrim may transfer from one campaign to another only once, and the transfer request must be completed by December 31, 2024, at the latest.

The sorting will be based on age groups according to the percentage and proportion of applicants within each age group from the quota allocated for the State of Kuwait as follows:

  1. The first group is 60 years and above.
  2. The second group is 35 to 59 years.
  3. The third group is 34 years and below.

This is evidenced by the fact that upon completing registration, it was found that there were 10,000 applicants for Hajj. Among these, 3,000 were from the first group, which constitutes 30% of the total applicants. Based on this percentage, the sorting of this group will be done according to the oldest age.

Regarding the registration period, the ministry stated that candidates accepted for Hajj are given five days to complete their registration and must pay KD 750 as an advance payment for each pilgrim.

If the cancellation occurs before December 31, 2024, the pilgrim will receive a full refund.

Regarding the cancellation policy, it was explained that if a cancellation occurs after December 31, 2024, the full amount will be deducted from the pilgrim. However, if the canceled seat is filled, the pilgrim will receive a full refund.
