Shrimp prices in Kuwait drop to two dinars per kilogram

The fish market received 376 baskets of ‘Umm Na’ira’ shrimp on Sunday, with prices ranging from 40 to 55 dinars per basket.

  • The fish market received 188 baskets of ‘Shahamiya’ shrimp, priced between 25 and 30 dinars per basket.

Marzouq Al-Azmi, Deputy Director of the Fisheries Sector at the Public Authority for Agriculture, announced that the fish market received 376 baskets of ‘Umm Na’ira’ shrimp on Sunday, with prices ranging from 40 to 55 dinars per basket.

He also noted that the market received 188 baskets of ‘Shahamiya’ shrimp, priced between 25 and 30 dinars per basket, according to Al Rai newspaper.

Al-Azmi explained in a special statement to Al-Rai that the price of a kilo of shrimp decreased this week to two dinars, down from 3.5 dinars last week.

He expects an increase in fishing quantities in the coming days, thanks to the efforts of the Public Authority for Agriculture in issuing the necessary licenses, monitoring territorial waters, and arresting violators. These efforts aim to preserve the fish stock, the benefits of which we are now seeing after allowing shrimp fishing to resume on August 1.
