Kuwait keen to safeguard and protect human rights

Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah affirmed Kuwait’s keen intent to safeguard and protect human rights by adhering to charters and covenants, especially the Arab Charter on Human Rights.

Sheikha Jawaher told KUNA after meeting with the Chairman of the Arab Charter Committee for Human Rights, Counselor Jaber Al-Marri in Cairo, that she held talks with the Arab official on procedures for submitting Kuwait’s second periodic report before the Charter Committee, at the end of 2024.

Sheikha Jawaher added that during the meeting she reviewed Kuwait’s efforts to advance the human rights file, alluding to Kuwait’s leadership and its precedence in this field in the region.
Counselor Al-Marri described to KUNA the Arab Charter Committee’s readiness to provide support to Kuwait towards the preparation of the periodic report to be submitted before the next session of the Committee.

He praised Kuwait’s efforts to improve the human rights report and support the right to development, as well as its humanitarian efforts in providing aid and assistance to those in need.

In this context, he recalled the humanitarian work of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God rest his soul, when he was honored by the United Nations and his exemplary leadership in humanitarian work.

The Deputy Foreign Minister was on a visit to Egypt to hold meetings with Human Rights institutions that were part of Arab States.
