Ministry arrests three in drug crackdown in northern Kuwait
Through field monitoring, the criminal security sector seized a psychotropic substance factory in a northern desert area, equipped with the latest narcotics production devices.
• Three individuals managing the factory were found in possession of 55 kilos of Lyrica powder, 35 kilos of a narcotic chemical substance, about 500,000 Lyricacapsules, 100,000 Captagon tablets, 500 grams of shabu, 12 special devices for manufacturing psychotropic substances.
In its ongoing efforts to combat the scourge of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and to track down their promoters and smugglers, the Ministry of Interior continues its initiatives, Al Qabas newspaper reported.
The men of the criminal security sector, represented by the General Directorate of Drug Control, continued their pursuit of traffickers and manufacturers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Through field monitoring, they were able to seize a factory for psychotropic substances located in a desert area in the north of the country. The factory was equipped with the latest devices and equipment used in the production and manufacturing of narcotic substances.
Three individuals managing the factory were found in possession of 55 kilos of Lyrica powder, 35 kilos of a narcotic chemical substance, about 500,000 Lyricacapsules, 100,000 Captagon tablets, 500 grams of ‘shabu’, 12 special devices for manufacturing psychotropic substances, and a sensitive balance.
The individuals and the seized items were referred to the competent authority for the necessary legal action.
On the other hand, the General Administration of Customs personnel thwarted an attempt to flood the local market with 12,000 bottles of imported alcohol from 6 international brands, after suspecting a container loaded with furniture arriving from an Asian country.
The alcohol was found hidden between the furniture and inside boxes loaded in a 40-foot container. The General Administration team said in a statement that the X-ray machine gave indications of the presence of foreign objects, which necessitated subjecting the container to a thorough inspection, and finding the alcohol hidden between the boxes and household furniture.
The efforts of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Criminal Security Sector and the General Administration of Customs, come within the framework of the strategy of the efforts of various state agencies to combat the scourge of drugs targeting Kuwait, and are considered one of the most important issues that receive the attention of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Youssef.
