Kuwait dominates global ICT rankings for second year running

In Kuwait, 99.7 percent of individuals and 99.4 percent of families access the internet through subscriptions with internet providers or telecommunications companies, ensuring safe usage.
The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) announced that Kuwait has secured the top spot in the 2024 Information and Communications Technology Development Index (IDI) by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the second consecutive year, the Al Rai newspaper reported.
The authority stated in a press release that the index continues to evolve, fostering foreign investor confidence to invest in the country, create jobs, and transfer expertise. They emphasized the importance of diversifying the state’s sources of income.
Additionally, they highlighted that the IDI index assesses the country’s internet accessibility in terms of coverage and affordability. They noted that 99.7 percent of individuals and 99.4 percent of families access the internet through subscriptions with internet providers or telecommunications companies, ensuring safe usage.
The authority explained that the index comprises two pillars with ten indicators each, and it serves as a liaison between data and international organizations specializing in the communications and information technology sector.
