Warehouse Storing Counterfeit Goods and Fake Branded Products Busted in Salmiya
Authorities seize counterfeit goods, water pumps and electrical equipment bearing falsified country-of-origin labels
The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Criminal Investigations Department in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, has uncovered a warehouse storing counterfeit goods and products bearing falsified country-of-origin information in the Salmiya area.
The operation was carried out in coordination with a joint committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and the General Fire Force.
The inspection followed investigations that revealed a suspect had divided a residential property into several warehouses and was renting them out without valid lease contracts.
Search and inspection operations led to the discovery of counterfeit goods, water pumps and electrical equipment in one of the warehouses. Investigators also found that the country-of-origin information on the products had been altered in other storage facilities.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry ordered the closure of the violating warehouse, while the General Fire Force sealed the premises and issued a warning notice.
The suspects were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action, with a view to deporting them from the country in the public interest.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that it would continue coordinating with relevant authorities to detect violations, combat illegal commercial practices and take the necessary legal measures against those involved.
