GTD urges motorists to maintain safe distance, check vehicles as rain approaches

The Traffic Awareness Department has urged motorists to prepare their vehicles for winter and rainy weather by checking tires, brakes, windshield wipers and lights, and adhering to speed limits and maintaining a safe distance while driving.
Speaking on the radio program Good Morning Kuwait, Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Department in the Operations and Traffic Sector, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, stressed the importance of preventive measures as weather conditions change and rainfall begins.
He warned that rain can reduce visibility and tire traction, making it essential for drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good working condition and exercise greater caution on the roads. Bu Hassan also urged pedestrians to use designated crossing points and advised motorists to remain vigilant, particularly in areas experiencing heavy traffic.
Regarding desert trips and camping, he advised road users to select locations away from main roads and highways and avoid parking on road shoulders. Off-road motorcyclists were also urged to stay off main roads and use designated, safe areas for their activities.
He encouraged motorists to follow the Ministry of Interior’s social media accounts for updates on road closures and traffic diversions, and to use navigation applications to identify alternative routes and avoid congestion.
