Nazaha trains supervisory staff to detect and prevent corruption, protect whistleblowers

• Program focuses on corruption reporting, financial disclosure and accountability

The Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazaha) has launched a three-day training program for supervisory staff from more than 20 government entities to strengthen their understanding of anti-corruption laws and improve their ability to prevent and identify corrupt practices.

The program, titled “Promoting Integrity and Combating Corruption: The Authority’s Role and Competencies,” aims to help government employees apply preventive and oversight measures within their institutions and promote transparency and accountability in public service.

Nazaha Chief Legal Auditor Nawaf Al-Aidan said the training covers corruption offences defined under the law establishing the authority, procedures for monitoring and reporting suspected violations, and measures to protect and reward whistleblowers. He said protecting public funds and combating corruption are shared national responsibilities that require coordinated efforts by individuals and government institutions.

Nadine Al-Badr, director of Nazaha’s Administrative Development and Training Department, said the program is the first in a series of specialized courses scheduled during the authority’s training season, which runs from October 2026 to February 2027. A further program for executive-level government employees is planned for February.

Supervisory staff were selected because of their role in guiding teams, monitoring compliance with workplace rules and ensuring that oversight and preventive measures are followed, Al-Badr said. The curriculum includes the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the law establishing Nazaha and its responsibilities, the financial disclosure system and the categories of people required to submit disclosures.

Participants will also learn about disclosure procedures and related penalties, corruption offences, reporting mechanisms, whistleblower protection and rewards, and ways to prevent financial and administrative corruption. Nazaha’s wider training program also covers the Right to Information Law, the Conflict of Interest Law, professional conduct and ethics, and corporate governance.

The authority has called on government entities to nominate employees for upcoming courses, saying that strengthening staff knowledge and skills is essential to preventing corruption, improving institutional practices, building public trust and safeguarding public funds.
