GTD road safety campaigns record 658 violations, impound 106 vehicles
Traffic police target illegal bus operations and dangerous driving across Kuwait

The General Traffic Department recorded 658 traffic violations and impounded 106 vehicles during two enforcement campaigns targeting violations by public transport buses and dangerous driving practices on Kuwait’s main and express roads.
The first campaign, conducted in the Hawalli Governorate, focused on public transport buses operating in violation of traffic regulations and resulted in 338 violations. It was supervised by Director General of the General Traffic Department Brigadier Rashid Al-Hajri and his assistant for traffic regulation, Colonel Ayoub Ghazi.

The violations included 26 cases involving the use of motor vehicles for transportation and one case in which the driver did not have a license. The authorities impounded 27 vehicles and referred 27 people to the traffic police station.
A second, comprehensive traffic campaign was conducted across main roads and expressways as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with traffic laws and protect road users. The operation targeted motorists violating traffic regulations and those engaging in dangerous driving practices.
The violations detected included exceeding speed limits, driving in emergency lanes and breaching overtaking rules and regulations, in addition to other traffic offences. During the campaign 320 violations were recorded and 79 vehicles were impounded.
The two operations underscore the General Traffic Department’s continued enforcement efforts against traffic violations, particularly those that threaten road safety and endanger other motorists. The department’s campaigns targeted both non-compliant public transport vehicles and dangerous driving behaviour across the road network.
