Five Suspects Arrested for Misusing Charity Project to Resell Donations in Kuwait

Kuwait’s Criminal Investigation Sector has uncovered a case involving five suspects accused of exploiting a charitable project to collect in-kind donations and resell them for personal financial gain.

The suspects include two Syrian nationals and three Egyptian nationals. The case was uncovered as part of ongoing security efforts to combat crime.

Investigations conducted by the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Criminal Investigation Department, through the Sabahiyah Investigation Office and in coordination with the concerned authorities, revealed that the suspects had established an operation to collect in-kind donations under the cover of a charitable project.

The suspects reportedly collected donations through several representatives before diverting them for personal gain. Instead of distributing the donated items to their intended beneficiaries, they allegedly resold them in local markets or exported them abroad.

Investigations revealed that the operation generated estimated monthly profits of around KD 60,000 from the sale of donated goods.

Authorities also located the company’s warehouse in Amghara, where the necessary action was taken regarding the seized items. Legal procedures are being completed in connection with the case.
