Kuwait announces winners of His Highness the Amir’s Award for Industrial Excellence
Awards highlight innovation, sustainable economic growth and AI
Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq, stated on Monday that the industrial sector is a fundamental pillar in building a diversified and sustainable economy by enhancing local production, increasing the competitiveness of Kuwaiti products, and creating quality opportunities for national talent, in line with the country’s aspirations.
This came during Minister Al-Marzouq’s speech at the ceremony announcing the names of the industrial establishments that won the His Highness the Amir’s Award for Industrial Excellence in its seventh cycle, held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He emphasized that, in light of rapid transformations, industrial competitiveness has become linked to innovation, technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and creating an attractive environment for industrial investment. He explained that His Highness the Amir’s Award for Industrial Excellence embodies these aspirations by motivating establishments and entrepreneurs to improve their performance, adopt best practices, and establish a culture of excellence and innovation in the Kuwaiti industrial sector.
He noted that the patronage of this award reflects the leadership’s interest in supporting national industry and strengthening its role in the development process.
The Minister extended his sincere congratulations to the winning factories and entrepreneurs in this cycle, expressing his hope that this achievement would motivate further development and that their experiences would serve as inspiring national models.
For his part, the Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Industry, Shamlan Al-Jahdali, affirmed in his speech that the Authority continues its efforts to support this sector and provide a stimulating environment for growth and development, in line with Kuwait’s development goals. Al-Jahdali stated that His Highness the Amir’s Award for Industrial Excellence embodies this approach, contributing to the consolidation of a culture of excellence and encouraging industrial establishments to improve their performance and adopt best practices.
He emphasized that the importance of the award extends beyond honoring the winners; it serves as a platform for continuous evaluation and improvement, helping establishments identify development opportunities and enhance their efficiency. He noted that the award’s reaching its seventh cycle confirms its success and the continuity of its mission to support the Kuwaiti industrial sector.
He mentioned that the Authority was keen in this cycle to develop the award’s criteria to keep pace with modern concepts of institutional excellence, based on the American Baldrige Excellence Model, while reinforcing the focus on key areas for the future of industry, most notably sustainability, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
He emphasized that the Authority will continue to support initiatives that contribute to the development of the Kuwaiti industrial sector and enhance its competitiveness, expressing his hope that this award will continue its role in highlighting outstanding industrial models and establishing a culture of continuous improvement.
The list of winners included the Kuwait Dairy Company in the food and pharmaceutical industries category, the Kuwait Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries Company in the same category, the National Petrochemical Industries Company in the chemical and petroleum industries category, and Karbi Kuwait Modern Buildings Company in the metal industries category.
Kirby Kuwait for Modern Buildings also won in the Encouragement Award category for Environmental Management and Sustainability, while Gulf Cables and Electrical Industries Group won in the Encouragement Award category for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence.
Kuwait Industrial Gases General Trading and Contracting Company won first place in the Industrial Entrepreneur category, and Nasser Al-Manaei & Sons General Trading and Contracting Company won second place in the same category. It is worth noting that His Highness the Amir’s Award for Industrial Excellence was launched in 2002 and has achieved success over its six previous cycles.
The award aims to promote a culture of excellence in institutional performance, foster a spirit of competition among Kuwaiti industrial establishments, and familiarize them with administrative and technological developments.
