8 Convicts to be executed in Kuwait’s central prison tomorrow
A security source revealed that the Kuwait’s Central Prison will carry out the execution of death sentences tomorrow, Sunday, 19th January, for 8 individuals convicted of murder.
The execution is in accordance with final and irrevocable judicial rulings, following the exhaustion of the three levels of litigation provided by law through the criminal, appeal, and cassation courts, and the subsequent ratification of the rulings.
The source explained to Al-Qabas that the convicts include “7 Kuwaitis and 1 non-Kuwaiti individual”.
Moreover, the source stated that the executions will take place inside the central prison after the competent authorities have completed all necessary procedures related to the convicts, exhausted all levels of litigation, and ratified the final implementation of the sentences.
The Ministry of Interior, through the Departments of Correctional Institutions and Criminal Evidence, in coordination with the Criminal Execution Prosecution and relevant judicial authorities, has made the necessary preparations to carry out the death sentences. The executions will take place in the presence of specialized doctors from the Ministry of Health, who will supervise the process until death.
The executions to be carried out tomorrow, Sunday, will be the first for the year 2025.
The Central Prison saw the execution of death sentences by hanging for 6 murder convicts on September 5, 2024, following the earlier execution of death sentences for 7 individuals convicted of murder in November 2022.
