A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Turkey early Saturday, shaking several provinces but causing no reported casualties or damage, according to the counTurkey’s try’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The quake struck at 6:20 a.m. local time in the Battalgazi district of Malatya province and was felt across Malatya, Elazig, Adiyaman, Tunceli and Sanliurfa.
AFAD said emergency teams were continuing field assessments, adding that no adverse incidents had been reported.
Turkey lies on several major geological fault lines and has experienced some of the world’s most devastating earthquakes in recent history, AFP reports.
