125 years strong UK and Kuwait mark a milestone in diplomatic ties

H.E. Belinda Lewis, the British Ambassador to Kuwait, said while collaboration in fields such as trade, investment, defense, and security has long underpinned our special ties, what truly binds us together are the extraordinary links between our people.

H.E. Belinda Lewis, the British Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, “there has been an extremely strong uptake to date, with a further 47,142 ETAs issued to Kuwaitis between July and September, bringing the total to 95,381 since applications opened in February.”

H.E. Belinda Lewis, the British Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, stated that 2024 has been a remarkable year for the UK and Kuwait, as our governments have come together to celebrate 125 years of official diplomatic relations.

While collaboration in fields such as trade, investment, defense, and security has long underpinned our special ties, what truly binds us together are the extraordinary links between our people. It was fitting that our first major announcement of the year was February’s rollout of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) scheme for Kuwaiti nationals, which has made short trips to the UK easier and more flexible than ever before, the ambassador said.

Ambassador Belinda said that “I am pleased to report that there has been an extremely strong uptake to date, with a further 47,142 ETAs issued to Kuwaitis between July and September, bringing the total to 95,381 since applications opened in February.

On behalf of the British government, I would like to wish everyone traveling to the UK for Christmas, New Year, and beyond a safe and enjoyable trip, the British ambassador added.
