Celebration of threads and technology: 10th ‘I Saw Kuwait’ competition kicks off

As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award has launched the tenth edition of its acclaimed cultural competition, “I Saw Kuwait,” in collaboration with Beit Al-Sadu. This year’s theme, “Kuwait: A Global City for the Craft of Sadu Weaving,” puts a spotlight on one of the nation’s most cherished traditional arts.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Bassam Al-Shammari, a member of the award’s Board of Trustees, announced that the competition will run for ten days, featuring interactive questions posted daily on the official Instagram and Facebook pages of the Informatics Award and Beit Al-Sadu. The initiative has already drawn widespread participation from both inside and outside Kuwait.
Al-Shammari explained that participants are required to answer six questions related to the Sadu craft. Those who respond correctly will be entered into a raffle draw, with a total prize pool of $50,000. Fifty winners will be selected, each receiving $1,000.
Sheikh Salem Adhbi Al-Salem Al-Sabah, General Supervisor of the competition, emphasized the value of the partnership with Beit Al-Sadu, describing it as a powerful example of the synergy between culture and technology. He noted that this collaboration presents the Sadu weaving tradition in a modern, interactive format that resonates with younger generations.
He further highlighted that the initiative reflects the strength of Kuwait’s cultural institutions and their commitment to joint national projects that elevate Kuwait’s presence on both regional and global stages. Sheikh Salem expressed optimism about future collaborations that continue to promote digital culture and preserve Kuwait’s rich heritage.
